Technology: Boon or Bane?

Technology is a boon as long as it is our slave. It’s when we let it become a master, that it becomes a bane. Mind you on its own, technology can never be your master… when you say technology is dominating your life, in a sense you are allowing it to do so.

Technology has improved our lifestyle. Several devices have been invented like laptops and tablets which help us finish loads of work with ease, but using such devices even in the field of education might affect the habits of students.

Schools have started introducing the use of tablet PCs for taking down notes, writing tests, and completing projects. Students have already spend enough time with technology for their projects and if they use it in their day-to-day activities as well, they might forget what reading and writing is. Students this days do not have good vocabulary because they are completely dependent on “copy paste” from the Internet.

It promotes independent learning for the students. Students can already learn from their own even without the assistance of their parents and teachers.

Easier Access to Information

The need for heavy books to be brought back and forth from school and home is no longer needed with technology. The books can stay in the classroom because the information that they need is easily accessed on a computer.

Promotes Exciting Way to Educate Students.

Since there are lots of images, videos and other graphics and text that maybe found in your computer, more students could feel the excitement in studying through the use of the gadget. This is very important in order to arouse their interest in studying.

Students have begun to lose interest in reading book as they find it boring. Due to the regular use of electronic devices they’ve even stopped thinking. They expect everything from a touch of the screen and don’t really work hard for what they want. This sabotages a child mentally and physically.

Technology is important but it is time humans decide where to draw this line. Technology doesn’t make man. Man makes technology. Science has gifted us the super technology so that it would be more boon than bane.
